Minutes
of the Blackdown Hills Transition Committee held on July 26th
2011 at Riggles Farm House, Luppitt.


Present:
Lesley Rogan, Geraldine Field, Alison Tottenham, Trudi Farmer, Mark
Farmer, Carole Lock, Charles Hill, Moira Wood.


Apologies:
Jenny Ash, Jenny Archard, Alan Tarr, Jim Rogan, Sandra Aldsworth,

Minutes
of the meeting of 25th
May 2011 were agreed and signed by LR


Welcome
to new members

– Carole Lock, Trudi Farmer, Mark Farmer and Charles Hill.


BHT
Banner
.
The completed banner was shown by GF. Made from recycled plastic
bottle fabric, recycled jumper and decorated with assorted knitted,
felt and sewn leaves. Thanks were recorded to GF, JAsh, SP and MW for
a splendid effort.


Honiton
Show
. VG has
booked an outdoor stand at Honiton Show – free of charge – but
BHT will not be mentioned in show publicity. Any members with
relevant businesses may display their leaflets. GF to check if
transition leaflets are available for distribution from the stall.
Stickered BHT seed packs will be available. MW to ensure JA/TB are
contacted to discuss gazebo provision and SM/VG contacted to arrange
rota cover for the stall.


Sustainability
Show and Woodland Fair.

BHT attended these events – successful. Stickered seed packs were
distributed and the group profile raised.


Apple
Day.
The
possibility of holding an apple day was explored – probably
22nd/23rd
October. A work group ,TF,CL,GF and MW, will meet in August to plan
the event.


Other
transition groups.
Members
were aware of other groups eg Taunton and Sidmouth and discussed the
possibility of developing relationships. CL agreed to contact a
Taunton group friend who had useful experience to share.


Venue.
The difficulty
of holding meetings in homes when number attending is high was
discussed. Alternative venues suggested included community pubs,
schools, village halls.
