Actions from last meeting (& AGM)
- JA sent BHT members names to BH AONB for entry on their database
- VG to ask ES for a small group website training including VG, JR and JA. Require content for letters from the land and gardening (TB, VG and JR)
- Devon Climate Action Network website (Val to check with SM)
- BHT banner – we agreed the following in order to lighten SM’s load:
GF to pull together a meeting provisionally booked on June 13th for anyone interested in planning then making the banner to aim for completed banner by 4 Aug 2011
VG is investigating a possible outside stand at Honiton Show on 4 Aug 2011 and take responsibility for that stand including seed give away
Consequent actions
- VG has leased the Millenium Field in Churchinford to give it back to the community and is holding a Bonfire event to clear brash on Fri 23 Sep2011 with soup. All welcome but Bring a mug!
- We agreed the need for BHT events to be clearly stated on our website
1) Community Plan
TB introduced SM by email to Catherine Bass who is responsible for the Community Plan. We are awaiting the plan from Catherine.
- SM to update us at the next meeting
2) Visioning Action Planning for Workgroups
- LR to resend Blackdown Hills Gardening details to the wider group (originally sent to VG)
- Ask each workgroup for simple aims and timeframes for the coming year by next meeting to enable the committee to monitor progress
3) Other Issues
- MIL funding not appropriate but SDF may be (see below)
- Training Feedback lead to the formation of training workgroup to include VG, JR and JA. Their 1st meeting needs to define what elements of the formal training need to be passed on
- Renewables in the Blackdown Hills appear to have come to halt at BH AONB – SM to confirm
- Churchinford & District Community Shop is good and well supplied with main problem keeping the shelves stocked. VG has spoken to organisers and is in discussion with similar shops for bulk buys. VG is taking this forward with possible view to funding from SDF for big orders (£250) plus petrol for delivery, May require formation of Purchasing workgroup to include Jenny Archard, VG, MW and AT(?)
- Finally, SM is to 'Transition' her new home into a passive house and share the process and skills with anyone who is interested. As she will be doing the work anyway, it would be a good opportunity for others to learn from her. It's aimed at people who might be thinking about solar, woodstoves or rainwater harvesting but lack the confidence to start the process. They can learn from her house and then be better informed when it comes to their own. She is going to post what she is doing next on the churchstanton part of our website, and have a noticeboard outside her house.
Next Meetings held bimonthly i.e. aim at 6 per year, alternating on the last Tuesday or Wednesday evening. Extra meetings may be called as needed and one/two meeting a year should be public (dates of public meetings to be agreed). So next meetings ar
